Elder Terry Gullage, Sr.
Elder Terry Gullage, Sr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 14, 1963. He is the eighth child of twelve children born to Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Gullage, Sr. He is married to Cassandra Calhoun Gullage and is the father of three sons, Shannon, Sedrick and Terry Jr. At the age of seven, Elder Gullage was baptized at the Canaan Baptist Church by his grandfather, Rev. James Powell, Sr. In the early seventies, the Gullage family relocated to Avondale, Louisiana, where Elder Gullage joined the Second St. John Baptist Church. From a tender age, Elder Gullage exemplified a special talent in music.
Later on, his interests broadened to the piano and he began leading and preparing others for the music ministry. At the age of fifteen, God instructed Elder Gullage to organize the Avondale Community Choir. This group traveled throughout the United States lifting up the Name of Jesus. The Avondale Community Choir has ministered and recorded with several artists. As Elder Gullage continued to lead the Avondale Community Choir, his leadership abilities along with his gifts to write, arrange and direct music, were even more evident.
Elder Gullage was educated in the Jefferson Parish School System and graduated from John Ehret High School. He received a scholarship in Music Arts and attended Delgado Community College and Xavier University.
He was later elevated to the position of Minister of Music at Second St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Isaac Smith and later under the leadership of the late Rev. Verson S. Joshua. He also served as the choir director at Ninevah Baptist church under the leadership of the late Rev. Wilker Neal and later Rev. Sam Baker.
As God continued to fashion and shape Elder Gullage, in 1994 he humbly accepted the calling of Minister of Music at Beacon Light International Baptist Cathedral under the anointed teachings and leadership of Bishop Darryl S. Brister. He also served as the Minister of Music for the Louisiana State and Southern Berith District of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship. He is currently a full-time student at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry and Pastoral Studies.
Although he excelled in the area of music, God called him to preach in 1997, and he was ordained on May 16, 1999, under the Ministry of Bishop Darryl S. Brister. On January 28, 2002, God called Elder Gullage and placed him as the Senior Pastor and Teacher of the Greater Mount Calvary Church. Under his leadership the church has grown both spiritually and numerically. Several in-house ministries have been established after all but most of all numerous souls have been saved and reclaimed for the Kingdom of God. Elder Gullage’s favorite scripture to live by is “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to thine own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths”. (Proverbs 3:5-6) He is dedicated and committed to the calling and work that God has placed on his life.
